Trevin was born with a condition called Hypospadias. I am going to try not to get to graphic, but his Urethra didnt come out the tip, but much lower. To be able to pee straight and to have a better chance and procreating, Trevin had to go in on Monday, February 22, 2010 for corrective surgery. When we first found out he had this problem it was a little concerning, seeing how that we didnt have insurance. We went to the doctors when he was probably a month old and they told us it would cost almost $10,000 to have this corrected. We didnt know how we were going to pay for this. We were Terrified. Luckily we were able to get on Medicaid, and they covered the whole cost. We feel so blessed. We werent to concerned to get it done because they told us that its very common, that its and easy fix, it only takes about a half an hour, and that he doesnt have to have it done until he is over 6 months old. Well time flew by us like we all know it does. The next thing I knew, we were driving to my Grandma Dona's house Sunday night and Monday morning at 8:30 He would be in surgery. We felt so blessed, Devins parents Drove all the way up to Riverton from Elsinore to be at the hospital with us. My parents Drove from Grantsville to be there, and also Devins Sister Marcea came as well. We felt so loved. As we did the routine to get Trevin ready, I was scared because I know he doesnt handle well when he is hungery and he couldnt have anything but water after midnight and nothing after 6:30. As Sunday night went along, we were trying to distract ourselves from what would happen the next morning. We took a nap when we got to My grandma's, then we went to Dinner, and soon off to visit my Aunt and Uncle in Draper. We came home got Trevin to bed, and just as we were settling into bed about to drift off into LaLa Land, I hear a blood curtling Scream. Trevin woke up screaming his head off from what? Im not sure still. It was one of these things. Sleeping in a new place, Scared, Diaper Rash, or wanting a warm Bottle. It took us about 20-30 minutes to get him to stop screaming and crying. I tried a bath I tried a bottle I tried bouncing him, changing his diaper. Anything I could think of. Finally I wamed his bottle and He was okay. Well I finaly get to sleep and I swear I woke up every half and hour thinking did I Sleep through the alarm? Is it time yet? I was getting nervous. We got him to the hospital the next morning and everyone was there. We did the hospital routine, and got him back and as the Anethsesiologist took our son from our arms He was asleep. Trevin opened his eyes one more time to peek at us and went to sleep. As we walked away we tried not to cry. As we went into the waiting room with our family the water works hit us both. It took them almost 2 hours to fix Trevins problem, and told us only one of us could go see him in the recovery room. I jumped up and went, I felt bad afterwards and appologized to Devin. I was just a little jumpy. I walked in and Trevin was laying there batting his hands at the nurses bages. He saw me and instantly started to cry wanting me to hold him. I held him and loved him and make him feel okay. I gave him some glucose water but he was a little upset as most are after surgery. They gave him a second dose of medicine and he seemed to relax. Except when his face was itching from it he just wanted to sleep. They kept us there for longer then20 minutes so Devin was getting nervous. Fianlly He asked the Nurse if he could come back, she came to see what was going on and they were just getting ready to move us and Devin met us back in the new area.He made us a little nervous though in the recovery area, because of his Morphine he wouldnt breath as deep as we needed him to. His oxygen levels would drop periodicly, so we had to stay there for close to 2 hours instead of 1. I passed him to Devin and both of us just wanted to cry, because we knew how important he is in our family. We knew how much we really cared for this little boy. We were over come with joy that he was okay, that everything went okay. The Doctor had told us that He did really well, that they only had one thing surprise them. They said when they put the catheter in that in some parts the skin was so thin that they could read the writting on the catheter. So the cuts had to be bigger. They said that 2/3rds of his penis had a horse shoe cut on it. I know he was in pain, but he was so good. Once they took the bandages off his hand to hold the IV in, he was happy! He just wanted to chew on his hand! We are so blessed each day. We couldnt even imagine what life would be like with out our sweet little boy. Thanks for everyones prayers and wishes for Trevins safty. We love you all!
